This is Cambridge in England, United Kingdom. It is where I lived and studied for a month when I was 17 years old.
Cambridge offers a lot of surprises. It has a very interesting and fascinating history. It creates a charm within the ancient buildings and gives a picturesque view of the oldest colleges along the river and city center. It has one of the oldest universities in the United Kingdom. Essentially, its University is the town and the town is the University. But it’s still more than just a University town. It existed even before a group of scholars from Oxford moved there after a dispute with local townsfolk over a killing. That was when a Roman settlement in the early years of Cambridge made the town flourish for centuries.
The city of Cambridge lies at a major crossing of the Granta (known to Saxons) or the River Cam. It owes its location and early importance to the river and became so placed at its present bend in it.
Its university, called University of Cambridge or often Cambridge University, was to develop an influence, which stretched not only through the UK but also throughout the world. The University also prides itself with having more Nobel Laureates (81) than any other university.
Cambridge today wouldn’t be possible without it being founded in c. 1209 because it’s an enchanting place that attracts tourists, workers, students, artists, and many more. It has dominated almost everything in the town itself from different walks of life, levels of social classes, etc
